Seasons change, but WREKs devotion to quality, diverse programming does not.
This October, WREK’s staff was hard at work with the day to day activities of the station while working on some exciting projects. The media team completed their first photoshoot and the engineering team made some exciting updates to the station. Operations also organized a special movie night for Halloween. Continue reading to learn more about what WREK has been up to along with updates on our music rotation and to see who’s stopped by the station for L@W and ESS!
Media Day
October 13th
WREK’s Media Team recently completed a photoshoot featuring our classic WREK logo t-shirts to promote a new restock of merchandise. The photoshoot was a great opportunity for media team photographers to collaborate and explore the station and campus for inspiration. You can see their work featured down below.
Full merch promo coming soon!

Movie Night
October 21st
Between midterms, meetings, and projects, it’s important to put aside time to spend with friends and relax. What better way to do that than with a movie night!
Members of WREK got together on October 21st to watch the beloved Cartoon Network miniseries Over the Garden Wall. The event was organized and hosted by our operations manager Christian Bryd who made sure we were supplied with plenty of halloween themed treats and hot chocolate for the night. Design lead Aisling Mahony also hosted a screen printing corner before the start of the show where members printed new ESS shirts.
Team Spotlight: Engineering
October 10th
Engineering made some exciting additions to the station last month.
During their workday, Engineering made around 1000 feet of SDI Cable to run to prod to set up a new video mixing set up. They also made a patchbay in prod and set up a video rack. After these changes, members of live sound and engineering completed a L@W set with video mixing the following Tuesday.

Engineering also received funding from the Georgia Tech Student Foundation (GTSF) for their new mobile broadcast setup. Thank you GTSF!
Cleaning Day
October 25th
On Sunday Oct. 25, our executive team took on the task of deep cleaning our home in the John Lewis Student Center. Unfortunately, our gorgeous station cannot look as beautiful as it does without a little bit of work, so we would like to shout out our exec team for making every nook and cranny nice and shiny again. They were rewarded with pizza.
