Hello all, Harrison here. I passed my operator test, so now I can post on the blog (there are other new things I can do too, but that's the most relevant thing right now). If you hear about a "DJ Couch" now, just know that it's me. I hope you enjoyed the show today; we liked it a lot. We might have liked it a little too much, because we ended up gushing about the songs we did play so much that we had to cut three whole songs from the list. Those songs will be coming back later down the line, but it might be a while before then; we'll be doing a Halloween-themed show next week, and Jordan will be gone the week after. All the songs we cut were Jordan's picks, so I would feel bad playing them the week they were gone... we'll see what happens.
Here's the set list from this week:

Many of these picks have some relevance to the goings-on of the vocal synth community: Adachi Rei got her Vocaloid5 AND Vocaloid6 voicebanks, so we had to feature her debut/demo songs.

Official art for Adachi Rei's VOCALOID 5 and VOCALOID 6 voicebanks. There are 2 headshots; on the left is the art for Rei's V5, which is stylized after classic UTAU concept art, and on the right is art for Rei's V6, portrayed in a more modern style akin to other current Vocaloids being put out.
Official art for Adachi Rei's V5 & V6. I'm partial to the V5 art (very reminiscent of her original concept art), but I do like the outfit work they did for her V6.

I will be honest. I am very excited that Rei is following in Teto's footsteps and moving up from UTAU to the big-name vocal synth companies; however, I have not enjoyed what I have heard from the voicebanks yet. Walking with you is very good, but it also benefits very, very heavily from the aesthetic work done in the music video. Personally, I think pieces that aren't afraid of working with Rei's unique "robot-ness" are where she shines the most. I haven't always been a 32ki fan, but I won't hesitate to admit that they knocked it out of the park with this one.
Additionally, I picked a KAITO & MEIKO song because they recently appeared on NHK in Japan (it's a really big national news station, so this isn't insignificant)! Miku, Rin, Len, and Luka have all been on this show before, but that was closer to COVID-era, so evidently they decided to finally finish hosting all the Cryptonloids. I don't recognize the models; they look more like something a V-Tuber would use than anything from the games/animations/shows, but I can't say anything definitively. I'm not super informed on the situation, since most of the info I could find was in Japanese, and the page translate tools aren't always that accurate... from what I could gather, they appeared on 10/17/26 (presumably local time). The NHK website says there will be an "e-broadcast" on 10/24/26. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure how to access that. Here is the post I found this through for anyone interested in watching:

There were no GUMI songs this week, but it was announced that she will be getting a VOCALOID 7 AI voicebank. Her new design is pretty interesting, sporting shiny, rainbow-like highlights all over. She lost her weird little "fly-eyes" goggles she's had since her inception in favor of some sunglasses, which is really odd considering that's probably her most iconic design piece. You can listen to her official demo below:

That's all I have for this week. Thank you for reading, and presumably for tuning into the show (if you haven't, we're on WREK Atlanta 91.1FM every* Thursday from 4-5PM EST. *When regular programming schedules are active. Miku Nation may not air on institute holidays or other similar occurrences).

Until next time, this is Harrison Garner signing off.
